Lampard sends ‘massive message’ to Mendy after his error against Everton cost Chelsea
A penalty conceded by goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and converted by Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson helped Everton beat Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday night.
The loss ended Chelsea’s 17-game unbeaten run, with the Blues missing the chance to top the Premier League.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has refused to criticise Chelsea goalkeeper Mendy for his role in the defeat to Everton on Saturday night.
Lampard said: “I don’t think Eduoard Mendy was just culpable but he has been outstanding so far so I will take that.
“When teams play long with one of the best strikers in the league, you have to suffer the moments and get through. Disappointed we did not have enough to unlock the door.”
