Lampard sends strong message to Liverpool and Manchester City after Liverpool win the Premier League

Chelsea had to beat Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday to play ensure Liverpool’s status as Premier League champions.

However, it was a great night for Liverpool fans as they celebrated their first ever Premier League title in 30 years.

Liverpool and Manchester City have dominated the Premier League in the past three seasons, and Frank Lampard has hailed the two clubs for their recent successes.

He said: “Just congratulate Liverpool. I don’t think this game decided the title. That was decided a long time ago through Liverpool’s consistency, performances and wins. Fair play to them of course. Give them full credit. They deserved to win it. Great for the players. Great manager.

“I know the hard work that goes in to trying to win a title with the competition that they’ve got. We saw that with Manchester City tonight. Big congrats to them, they deserve it.

“Of course they will (be a force for several seasons). That’s the Premier League. For the last three seasons themselves and City have been out on their own pretty much. That’s a lot of work, as I say, from Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. The players they have brought in, the project, how they work. Great coaches they are.

“They are going to be there but it’s up to us because it’s a gap we want to try and bridge and move up towards. They are two of the best teams in the world. Again, credit to Liverpool for what they have done.”
