Legend fears another £80 million defender is heading across London to sign big five-year Chelsea deal

Chelsea’s links with West Ham midfielder Declan Rice are showing no signs of slowing, as there are fears he could be on his way to the Blues.

Chelsea have been very busy in this summers transfer window with Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva the latest players to make the move to Stamford Bridge as Frank Lampard puts together a very exciting side.

But Rice could be the next signing to make the move to London, as he remains Frank Lampard’s top defensive target this summer, and And one Hammers legend is fearing the worst that the Englishman could be moving across London.

Speaking to Football Insider, Frank McAvennie said: “The boy will go eventually I just hope it is next year rather than this year. “He always says that he loves the fans so give them next year.

“But it also depends on the ambition of West Ham and they need to buy players to match his ambition.

“You have got to buy players and he will want the owners to give David Moyes money to go out and improve the squad. “They need talent. West Ham are a big club so, we will have to wait and see.”

Rice is a very gifted player that will be a big time star in the future, so if Chelsea are really interested in bring him to the club over the next few months, then they have already shown that they are more than willing to pay the big money to get the players they want.

But there is some doubt as to whether or not Rice is worth £80 million, that fee will need to be brought down if the Blues are to make him a Chelsea player by October.
