Marina backed out from £60m signing, Leonardo Spinazzola to Chelsea?, as Barca wants Chelsea star
The Blues has been linked with Inter Milan full-back Achraf Hakimi, but reports now claim that the Blues have pulled out of the deal.
French giants Paris Saint-Germain have closed in on the deal, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, an announcement is expected to be made in less than a week’s time.
Chelsea had seen a cash offer plus Marcos Alonso rejected for the Morocco international, and PSG is believed to have paid up to £60m for the young fullback.
The report by Gazzetta dello Sport also claims that Hakimi had remained open to the prospect of joining the Champions League winners, but Chelsea weren’t keen on paying over the odds for his signature.
No bid is expected from Chelsea, as the Blues have pulled out of the race for the 22-year-old who has now agreed a five-year contract with PSG worth €10m (£8.6m) per season including bonuses.
Erling Haaland still remains Chelsea’s number one target this summer, and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is believed to be keen on seeing the deal happen.
Leonardo Spinazzola to Chelsea?
The Blues currently have Ben Chilwell, Marcos Alonso and Emerson, who can feature in the left wing-back role.
However, Alonso and Emerson are expected to be sold with reported interest from the Serie A this summer.
According to The Express, manager Thomas Tuchel wants a strong competitor to Chilwell next season.
The Blues are keeping tabs on Spinazzola, who is currently excelling for Italy at the European Championships.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in the left-sided defender, who has 16 caps with Italy.
It was recently claimed that they could reunite him with manager Paulo Fonseca, but that won’t be the case.
Fonseca was in advanced negotiations with Spurs over the managerial role, but the deal broke down at the last minute.
Spurs are still on the search for a new head coach. They are currently in talks with Nuno Espirito Santo over the vacancy.
Barca wants Chelsea star
Reports in Spain claim Spanish giants Barcelona have reignited their interest in Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso.
Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo via Daily Mail claim Barcelona have approached Chelsea over a transfer for Alonso.
Alonso’s constant omission from the squad under Lampard led to a loan offer from Barcelona in January, with the Catalan giants even agreeing terms with the player.
However, the report adds the move eventually failed to go through because Barcelona could not offload former Real Betis star Firpo, who is now said to be drawing Premier League interest from Leeds, West Ham and Southampton.
Barcelona reportedly want Alonso to compete with first-choice left-back Jordi Alba for a place in Ronald Koeman’s side next season.
Alonso played just 17 matches across all competitions for the Blues last season but was frozen out under former boss Frank Lampard.
Alonso has a contract with Chelsea until 2023, having put pen to paper on a fresh five-year deal back in October 2018.
