Marina Granovskaia and Lampard clash over ‘incoming’ top transfer target

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has reportedly clashed with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia over the potential signing of Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz.

Lampard is reportedly pushing for the signing of Havertz while according to transfer expert Ian McGarry, Granovskaia feels the side should be more balanced and wants to invest in the defensive side of the team.

“There is some friction between the football department and the de facto chief executive Marina Granovskaia,” McGarry told the Transfer Window Podcast.

“Granovskaia is the ultimate person who signs off on transfers and so far Lampard and his coaching staff are pleased with the business which has been done. “They are optimistic at the possibility of Havertz arriving especially with Jorginho leaving.

“The priority is to sort the defence out.” “From what I hear Chelsea need to strengthen their defence as a priority,” McGarry added.

“And yet so far the two players they have bought have been Werner and Hakim Ziyech, another attacking midfielder.

“There is still no sign of a centre-back. We have reported Chelsea’s interest in Declan Rice of West Ham to play as a centre-back.

“Also he wants a left-back as we know and Ben Chilwell of Leicester is on the radar for that.”
