‘Not good! as UEFA release new rule that will affect Chelsea vs Lille UCL clash

Following Monday’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland, The Blues have been paired with Lille in the last-16 of the Champions League.

However, Chelsea will face the French side over two legs next year, with the first tie taking place at Stamford Bridge in February and the return leg in northern France scheduled to take place in March.

Following the draw on Monday, UEFA confirmed a new Champions League rule change that takes effect from the round of 16.

According to UEFA, the away goals rule has been scrapped and will no longer be in effect for two-legged knockout ties in the Champions League.

That means if the aggregate scores are level after the usual 180 minutes of the two legs, the tie will be decided in extra-time and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out, regardless of the number of goals each team scored at home and away.
