‘Not ruling it out’ – Tuchel finally confirms Chelsea will sign another forward as Blues eye £480,000K a-week star
In his public interviews, Thomas Tuchel is recognized for being very polite and smart, and I think he demonstrated these qualities in his first interview of the new season yesterday.
Naturally, all of this video is posted overnight because Chelsea is currently on a preseason tour in Los Angeles, so us English people have to spend the morning catching up! Since our American and other international followers are accustomed to doing that themselves, I suppose it’s a fantastic role reversal!
Chelsea transfers news were naturally discussed in an interview Thomas Tuchel gave to Sky Sports. The big issue was if there would be any other acquisitions in the attack after Raheem Sterling’s acquisition had just been officially announced.
Perhaps more importantly, though, was he interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo?
Tuchel didn’t explicitly address the ties to Ronaldo, but he did hint that another forward could be added this summer.
“I would not rule it out [signing another striker] but right now it is not the priority. The priority right now is defence, it’s not a secret. From there we need to see what’s possible,” said Tuchel.
We’re competing against the two top teams but Tottenham did a very active and aggressive and early transfer period, they have maybe the strongest squad they ever had with one of the best coaches in the world, Man Utd are never shy of recruiting with a new coach and Arsenal had some big signings already so we need to keep the level up to be competitive.”
