OFFICIAL: Chelsea midfielder leaves club on season-long loan deal

Chelsea midfielder Luke McCormick has joined League One club Bristol Rovers on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old had a loan spell with Shrewsbury last season, making eight appearances for the Shropshire club.

McCormick, who has been with Chelsea since the age of six, but is yet to make his first team debut for the Blues.

He was part of the U-18s side that won the treble in 2017, while also captaining the U-19 side in our 5-0 memorable win over Qarabag in the UEFA youth league. Luke has scored 23 times and provided 10 assists in 75 appearances at the youth level.

Bristol Rovers boss Ben Garner said: “We are delighted to welcome Luke to the football club.

“He is a midfielder that has great energy, is forward thinking & has an eye for goal. Speaking to both the Academy & First team staff at Chelsea it is clear that Luke is highly thought of both as a player and as a character.
