‘Our Sevilla board decided that…’ Sevilla coach finally reveals why Kounde didn’t join Chelsea
According to several reports, Chelsea reportedly agreed personal terms with Sevilla defender Jules Kounde during the summer transfer window but failed to reach an agreement with the Spanish side.
The Blues reportedly submitted an offer of €50million for 22 year old defender but Sevilla wanted more.
Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui has now revealed why Kounde’s Chelsea move fell through.
“Kounde didn’t join Chelsea because our Sevilla board decided it was the right thing to do, based on the value of the offers. For me it’s positive – he’ll perform again at top level,” Sevilla head coach Julen Lopetegui has told Diario de Sevilla, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Kounde’s current deal with Sevilla expires in July 2024.
