Chelsea haven’t been able to replace Ashley Cole since his departure, which prompted the Blues to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City ahead of next season.
Ben Chilwell has had a catch-up with Chelsea legend Ashley Cole, and was pleased to meet the legend.
“Great afternoon spent chatting to this legend! Hopefully i can have a career like yours at this amazing club,” Chilwell has tweeted.
The respect is clearly mutual as Cole has been Chilwell’s fan for quite a while and even urged the club to go for him.
“I would love to see him at Chelsea,” Cole told talkSPORT back in December.
“He’s doing really, really well at Leicester. “He’s enjoying the way Brendan plays and his system; he’s got that licence to attack.
“When he’s played for England he’s played well – in his last game he got three assists. He’s shown quality not just on the ball, but one-on-one he can defend and he likes to defend.
“I think he’s quality and I’ve heard he’s a Chelsea fan, too, so I would like to see him here.”
