Pirlo gives green light for Juventus and Chelsea to seal transfer deal for in-form powerhouse

Juventus head coach Andrea Pirlo has backed his side to move for in-form Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

Despite the fact that Giroud was a major player for Chelsea last season in their quest to get back into those top four spots, there has been constant speculation about his long-term future at the club as he simply has not been a regular this season.

Giroud has hinted he will stay with the Blues for at least the rest of the season, after a strong run that has seen him score eight goals in his last seven outings in the Premier League and Champions League.

And Pirlo didn’t deny that such form has caught his attention. When asked about a possible move for Giroud, he replied to DAZN: “He’d be handy!

“The window opens tomorrow, we already discussed with the club what we want to do and if there are any opportunities. Maybe a striker that can rotate with our strikers.”

There is a real change in the performances of Giroud over the past few months and he has become a big part of the Chelsea starting line-up, but how many times have we seen the Frenchman start performing just before the transfer windows, and then drop off.

He has been a great servant for the club over the last few seasons and he will stay until the summer, but Chelsea need to look to the future, and unfortunately, Giroud is not part of the long-term plans at the Bridge.

A move to Italy would be a good way to end his top-level playing career. if they are still interested when the summer transfer window opens up.
