Two Chelsea ‘Key’ players that can sacked Lampard as Chelsea board eye replacement

Two Chelsea ‘Key’ players that can sacked Lampard as Chelsea board eye replacement

According to EXPRESS, Chelsea chiefs are reportedly concerned about the form of two of their most expensive summer signings. Chelsea splashed out £220million on seven new players ahead of this season. Germany internationals Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have failed to live up to their hefty price tags so far.

However, Werner has failed to score in his last 12 appearances in a Chelsea shirt. The 24-year-old, who joined from RB Leipzig for a fee of around £47.5million, initially started his Blues career in good form.

The forward netted eight goals in his first 12 appearances for the club in all competitions.

But Werner has been wasteful in front of goal in recent weeks, which led to him being dropped for the home match against Aston Villa last Monday.

Havertz, meanwhile, is Chelsea’s record signing at around £72m but has struggled even more than his compatriot.

The 21-year-old has just one Premier League goal to his name, though was hit badly by the coronavirus earlier in the campaign. The Athletic say the Chelsea hierarchy are worried about the German duo.

The report also claims Frank Lampard’s job is far from being secure following Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Club chiefs are already looking at alternatives to Lampard if they were to sack the 42-year-old.
