Mendy: Barely had anything to do all game. He was well beaten by Benzema’s stunning strike. 6/10
Christensen: Started out on the right side of the back three, and was very comfortable on the ball. Good display. 7/10
Thiago Silva: Experienced defending all through, but will be disappointed that the team’s lapse in concentration gave Benzema room to slam a stunning overhead kick that beat Mendy. 7/10
Rudiger: Played like a beast tonight. Beside being solid at the back, he also threatened whenever he went forward with the ball. His ball distribution was really good, and tried to help the team beat Real Madrid’s press. 7.5/10
Azpilicueta: Decent performance as he started in the right wing-back role. Didn’t go forward that much as he should have. 6.5/10
Chilwell: Comfortable evening for the 24-year-old. His area wasn’t really penetrated and he went forward all game. Missed one chance early in the game. 8/10
Jorginho: He was class in the middle of the park as he dictated play. 8/10
Kante: Was a rock tonight. Ran with the ball, broke play, tackled hard, protected his defence, won fouls. The superlatives cannot be exhausted on the Frenchman. Had a good first-half, but went higher the second half. 8/10
Mount: Decent game as he put in a good shift for the team. Played a bit deeper todat, and was effective. 7/10
Pulisic: Scored Chelsea’s only goal of the game and was brilliant in the first 15 minutes of the game. He got tired and his impact dropped afterwards. 7/10
Werner: It didn’t really work for him tonight. Missed a good chance early in the game and his teammates did not seem to be on the same wavelength with him. 6/10
Subs: Reece James: Came on for Azpilicueta in the right wing-back role and added energy to the attack. Was also solid at the back. 6/10
Ziyech: Came on for Pulisic and looked dangerous anytime he had the ball. 6/10
Kai Havertz: Came on for Werner and seemed bright at the time. 6/10
