Player reveals why he prefers to join Chelsea this January than any other club

According to latest reports, Mega-rich Newcastle United are said to have submitted a £22million offer for the Everton left-back but Digne has made it clear he isn’t interested in a move to Newcastle United.

Chelsea are in the market for a left-back this January following the injury to Ben Chilwell which has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

However, according to 90min, Everton left-back Lucas Digne favour a move to Chelsea and deciding to leave Everton this month.

Digne is looking to leave Everton this month after a fall-out with manager Rafa Benitez, and he has barely played since their argument.

90min also adds West Ham and Leicester City are also keen on signing the France international and he is also considering his options should a move to Chelsea fail to materialise.

Everton have since signed a replacement in the shape of Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dynamo Kiev and are ready to sell Digne but while Everton want to sell the France international, most of the interested parties are looking at an initial loan.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson has urged the club to sign Digne as a replacement for the injured Ben Chilwell.

“It would be a good signing, he’s a good player. For whatever reason he’s not playing under Rafa [Benitez] at the moment. He’s another realistic target,” Johnson told BoyleSports football.

“I’m sure he’d bite your arm off at the opportunity [to play for Chelsea]. He’s not playing as much as he’d like, so that would be a good signing. He can play both sides as well.

“Everton are a good side and they’ve got a decent squad, but Digne’s one of their better players. Rafa has clearly seen something and he prefers the other options. But I am surprised he’s not playing as much.”
