Player ‘very upset’ after club blocked his Chelsea move, as Blues willing to pay €60m to sign 22-year-old attacker in summer
According to reports, Sevilla defender Jules Kounde was ‘very, very upset’ after his move to Chelsea collapsed last summer,
However, The Frenchman had agreed personal terms with Thomas Tuchel’s side before Sevilla did not let him leave.
As per Matt Law on the London is Blue podcast, Kounde was upset that the move did not happen last summer.
Speaking on the podcast, Law revealed: “Koundé was very, very upset that [the Chelsea] move didn’t happen over the summer.”
However, he could be granted a move to Chelsea soon as it was reported that the Blues are looking to agree a deal with him before the summer.
With the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta all out of contract at the end of the season, and all linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge, Tuchel is keen to sign the centre-back and bolster his defensive options.
Therefore, Chelsea are likely to re-enter negotiations for Kounde and could have him for the 2022/23 season as he is a long-term target for the Blues.
It has recently been reported that Kounde is still very keen on a move to Chelsea after he already has an ‘agreement with Chelsea’ for a possible future move and could join Tuchel’s side at the end of the season.
Blues willing to pay €60m to sign 22-year-old attacker in summer
According to a report by El Nacional, Chelsea could go big for yet another highly rated attacker. the Blues are willing to fork out €60 million for Lille striker Jonathan David.
The Canadian youngster has alerted several top European sides with his top-notch displays, including the Stamford Bridge outfit.
The Blues are looking for attacking reinforcements after a disappointing return on investment in Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.
The Belgian, who made a sensational return to Chelsea on a club-record £97.5 million transfer from Inter Milan last year, has struggled with injuries and indifferent form.
Havertz, who scored the winner in the Champions League final against Manchester City last year, has struggled for consistency. Meanwhile, Werner has been a pale shadow of his RB Leipzig self.
All that has prompted the European champions to look for another striker, and David has emerged as a potential target. Signed from Genk in 2020, the 22-year-old led the Mastiffs to a fairy-tale Ligue 1 title last season, scoring 13 goals and making three assists in 37 appearances.
His form has only gone up a few notches in the current term, netting another 12 times in 22 games thus far, which comprises exactly 40% of Lille’s total league goals.
The Canadian fireball has been their only shining light in an otherwise disappointing title defence, as Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side are languishing in tenth place.
