Reason why Inter Milan failed to sign £300,000 a-week Chelsea midfield destroyer

It has been a while since Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan started getting linked to Chelsea star N’Golo Kante, with an obvious influence of ex-Blues manager in this chase.

Now some claims from Italy suggest that there has been an agreement for the 29-year-old, whose contract with his side runs until June 2023, to depart the Stamford Bridge for Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Journalist Maurizio Pistocchi has interviewed by Italian media outlet Passione Inter and claimed that Inter Milan boss had done his job on the signing, but could not get the proper backup from I Nerazzurri.

“Conte had closed some personal negotiations with Kante, and was willing to come to Inter. He had identified him as the perfect player to win”, he told Passione Inter.

“They failed to get rid of the redundancies that remained in Milan like Nainggolan or Vecino. He was annoyed about this.

“Now he’s understood that he cannot expect the company to make economic sacrifices but has given indications for the January market.”

Following Antonio Conte’s arrival in west London in the summer of 2016, N’Golo Kante joined him right away on a €36 million move from Leicester City.

They won the PL title in their first season with Chelsea. This season, the Milan-based outfit continue in the hunt for the Serie A title. After 11 fixtures, they are in second place, three points behind city rivals, Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan.

It is not said how much the Chelsea management would demand or what Inter Milan’s bid for the midfielder was yet.
