REPORT: Chelsea to sign £30million defender as long-term replacement for Thiago Silva
According to reports in Germany, Chelsea have identified a long-term replacement for Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva.
Kicker claims Chelsea interested in Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter, the 26-year-old has been hailed as the next Sergio Ramos.
Ginter could leave Monchengladbach for £30million in January, and that could mean a Chelsea exit for Antonio Rudiger. It could also see Fikayo Tomori leave the club on loan.
Ginter joined Gladbach from Bayern Munich for £15.5million in 2017, after he struggled to hold down a regular starting spot at the Allianz Arena.
The German international helped Monchengladbach finish fourth in last season’s Bundesliga, securing Champions League football for Marco Rose’s side.
