According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea winger Pedro is edging closer to sealing a summer transfer to Serie A heavyweights AS Roma.
The 32-year-old Spanish international joined Chelsea in 2015 from Barcelona and has been a key contributor for the club since. Till date, Pedro has featured 203 appearances for the Blues, bagging 43 goals and 28 assists.
Pedro’s contract with Chelsea was set to expire last month. However, the former Barcelona ace signed a short-term extension to see the 2019/20 campaign through.
And now, it seems obvious that the 32-year-old will be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, with a move to Roma seemingly all but done.
The report further adds that Pedro has agreed with the Chelsea hierarchy not to speak in media about Roma, or follow any accounts related to the Giallorossi on social media. He has also agreed not to visit Italy to scout the city ahead of his departure.
Pedro hasn’t seen a whole lot of game time under Frank Lampard this season. The Spaniard has featured just 20 times in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting three more.
The 32-year-old has hardly been used since the resumption of the campaign last month. Indeed, he has featured for a combined total of 13 minutes in our eight matches since the season restarted. With him on the verge of agreeing a deal with Roma, it will be interesting to see if Lampard does use him in the remainder of the fixtures.
