Revealed: ‘Leading contender’ for Chelsea takeover revealed as UK government set to make decision

The Blues owner Abramovich was recently sanctioned and his assets have been frozen, therefore affecting the club. Despite this, the sale of Chelsea is now back on track as the government gave the green light for the process to continue.

However, according to The Times, Boehly-Wyss-Goldstein consortium has emerged as a ‘leading contender’ to buy Chelsea.

It is headed by American businessman Todd Boehly and the British property tycoon Jonathan Goldstein.

Both the government and the Raine group (a bank chosen to oversee the sale of Chelsea) view the consortium as the best option.

They believe the consortium has the money and expertise to quickly buy Chelsea and ensure the club’s stability.

The deadline to submit offers is believed to be Friday, March 18. At least 11 other parties are interested in buying Chelsea, with Saudi Media reportedly submitting an official bid earlier on Monday.
