Revealed: why Lampard blasted all his players in the dressing room following disappointing performance
Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal was one of the most disappointing performance from the team this season. Lack of cohesion, character, intensity and desire was all evident against the Gunners.
By half-time, Chelsea were already 2-0 down to a weakened Arsenal team.
The Athletic’s Simon Johnson, has now revealed that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard ‘lost it’ at his players in the Chelsea dressing room and gave the the infamous hairdryer treatment at half time.
Chelsea would eventually lose the game 3-1, with Jorginho missing a penalty that could have sparked hopes of a comeback.
Chelsea looked fired up for the next game against Aston Villa, but ended up playing a 1-1 draw, and Frank Lampard was more forgiving this time, as he hailed his players for the improvement shown on the pitch.
“Definitely, in terms of performance, ” Frank Lampard answered to Amazon Prime’s question whether he thought his side reacted positively after the Arsenal defeat. “We started really well. Villa had their moments but we came through them.
“We conceded with a man on the floor, that’s the way it is for us at the moment. Attitude-wise, effort-wise, some of the play was very good against a really good team.
“Late on we got some chances and nearly scored, when you’re in a tough moment things don’t quite go for you. A month ago we win that.
“I can’t ask for more from the players today. No-one let me down, everyone worked hard, we didn’t get the rub of the green.”
