Revealed: Why new Chelsea signing Marc Cucurella could start against Everton tomorrow
New Chelsea player Marc Cucurella might make his debut tomorrow.
However, The Chelsea manager expressed his optimism that everything would be finished before the noon deadline so that the Spain international might maybe play in tomorrow night’s game at Thomas Tuchel’s press conference, which was taking place as the deal was being finalized.
Now, Cucurella is able to play in tomorrow’s 5.30 match against Everton because, according to Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard, it was finished on time.
Normally, we would think it quite difficult for a manager to start a player in a game 24 hours after they signed, but in this situation, Tuchel specifically indicated that time frame.
As was evident from other things Tuchel mentioned, Ben Chilwell’s protracted recovery from surgery is still a concern. While Marcos Alonso may start, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Cucurella get some playing time later.
