Roman Abramovich took over Chelsea in 2003, his aim was to make Chelsea a strong force, not only in England but in Europe as well.
Chelsea have grown over the years to become a dominant side in the Premier League, and the Blues have won five league titles so far as well as the big one, the Champions League in 2012.
Chelsea have since lost its force in the Premier League and Europe, with Liverpool and Manchester City now the dominant sides in the league. But it seems, Blues owner Roman Abramovich has seen enough of that.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol believes the Russian billionaire is hungry once again to make Chelsea serial winners in English football. Solhekol told the Premier League Review: “We’re seeing this pattern developing in the last few months.
“Roman Abramovich is kind of reengaged at Chelsea, he seems to have got the hunger back, he seems to have really backed Frank Lampard, he wants to take the fight to Liverpool and Manchester City next season, and he knows that to be the best you have to buy the best.
“He’s in this incredible position this summer where he has got a lot of money when a lot of other clubs – Chelsea’s competitors – don’t have money to spend.
“Also, prices have come down a bit so being the great businessman that he is, he spotted a great opportunity in the market and he’s going to take advantage of it and buy some really good young players for Chelsea.”
