Roman Abramovich makes final decision after UK government gives green light on Chelsea sale

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has had all his assets in UK freezed including Chelsea FC following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Now, Abramovich agrees to Chelsea sale even though he would receive nothing from the sale due to sanctions by UK

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has instructed Raine Group to go ahead with the sale of the club despite being sanctioned by the United Kingdom government.

Due to the sanctions placed on the Russian billionaire by the UK government, the proceeds from the sale of Chelsea will taken by the government and given to Ukrainian charities or frozen.

It appears Abramovich is putting Chelsea ahead of his own personal gain as he has tasked Raine Group to continue with the sale.

The merchant bank previously told potential buyers that the process was ‘on pause’ after Abramovich’s sanctioning but will now continue with the sale of the club after receiving green light from Abramovich.

It is also strongly believed there is confidence a deal could be agreed within the next four to six weeks, with several credible interested parties.
