Roman Abramovich ready to back Tuchel with these three key signings in summer
The Blues failed to make any January signings for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, but seems there will be a big summer signings for the Blues boss.
However, according to reports, It was claimed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to back Thomas Tuchel with major signings in the summer transfer window,
Meanwhile, Chelsea were linked with a deadline day move for Ousmane Dembele but opted against signing the Barcelona winger before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Tuchel was keen to sign a new left-sided defender to provide cover for Ben Chilwell but Chelsea’s hierarchy were unable to reach an agreement with Lyon which would’ve seen Emerson Palmieri return from his loan spell.
According to The Athletic, Tuchel was not pushing for new signings during the January window and instead, Chelsea are looking to significantly strengthen their squad after the season finishes.
The report claims that West Ham’s Declan Rice, Monaco’s highly rated central midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni and Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde are all on Chelsea’s summer shortlist.
Chelsea have also held talks with Dembele’s agent over a potential deal this summer when the winger would be available on a free transfer.
Speaking on Tuesday, Barcelona president Joan Laporta indicated that Dembele would not play for the club again after failing to leave before the transfer deadline.
Laporta said: ‘It’s not good for him or for the club, the renewal gave us salary margin, but the positioning is not understood.’
‘We think he has an agreement with another club and we will act in our own interest.’
Chelsea also remain in talks to extend the contracts of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta.
All three players could leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season when their deals expire.
