Serie A chief in London for two Chelsea deals

Chelsea may spend big during the summer transfer window, but they may have to sell to make up for it.

According to reports, Chelsea will be able to raise around £200 million via player sales this summer.

Igli Tare, Lazio’s sporting director, is reportedly in London today to discuss two Chelsea players.

Tare has arrived in Chelsea for negotiations about fullback Emerson Palmeiri and midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Chelsea could listen to bids for Loftus-Cheek and Emerson, who are both squad players.

Maurizio Sarri, the head coach of Lazio, has been linked with a transfer for Loftus-Cheek, who impressed under him at Chelsea.

After fighting for minutes under Thomas Tuchel last season, it’s unclear if Loftus-Cheek would be interested in the move.

Sarri is also thought to be interested in Emerson Palmieri, who spent last season on loan with Lyon.

Chelsea attempted to recall the Italy international in January in order to provide cover for Ben Chilwell’s injury, but Lyon turned down the request.

Emerson has returned from his loan spell with Chelsea and has acknowledged that he has yet to talk with Blues manager Thomas Tuchel.

Emerson told Goal, I didn’t speak with [Tuchel] just yet.”

“I have a contract with Chelsea. I played there for three seasons and I have a lot of friends there.

“If I come back, I’ll be happy. It’s a good place and club for me. Let’s see what can happen.

“Lyon said ‘no’ [to a return in January] so I didn’t come back. It didn’t depend on me. Those conversations were between the clubs.

“Lyon said ‘no’ and I respected that because when I signed there I signed for one year, not six months.

“But now I will go back to Chelsea in the pre-season I think and let’s see what happens in the next month.”
