Before the transfer window ends Chelsea tried to do some outgoing transfers as the Blues loan and sell some players after huge summer signings.
However, Chelsea have said farewell to Tiemoue Bakayoko following his switch to Napoli, and the Italians are delighted.
After months of speculation, Chelsea finally managed to secure a transfer deal for Bakayoko and get him off the wage bill, after Napoli came in at the back end of the transfer window and took him on loan for the season.
Bakayoko had been linked with a return to Milan where he played on loan in the 2018-19 campaign under Rino Gattuso, but that move fell through and the Italian coach had requested his services to strengthen Napoli team in the middle of the park and Italians managed to bring him back to Serie A
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis then opened up and confirmed the acquisition of Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea, revealing his delight that the midfielder has made the back to Italian football: “Welcome Tiemoue,” he wrote in one of his trademark tweets.
Napoli have then released an official statement on their website:
“SSC Napoli are delighted to announce the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan for the 2020/21 season.
“Bakayoko was born in Paris on 17 August 1994. He came through the youth ranks at Rennes and made his professional debut for them in Ligue 1 in 2013. “The following season he moved to Monaco, where he made 63 appearances over three seasons and helped them win the title in 2016/17.
“Chelsea acquired his services in the summer of 2017 and the midfielder played 29 games in the Premier League and Champions League scoring two goals. He also won an FA Cup winners’ medal with the Blues.
“Tiemoue spent the 2018/19 season at AC Milan on loan, racking up 31 appearances for the Rossoneri with a goal in the Milan derby. “He then rejoined Monaco on loan for the 2019/2020 campaign, before returning to Chelsea this summer.”
