Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi has confirmed that he is set to re-sign with the club and then be loaned out to Crystal Palace.
Chelsea have been very busy this transfer window, as we all know, and have managed to complete all the transfer deals that they were seeking to wrap up that will help improve the attack.
Chelsea now have the likes of Olivier Giroud, Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham all up front, meaning that there will be very little game time for Batshuayi in the coming months, which has led to speculation that he is on his way out of the club.
The 26-year-old’s current contract runs until next summer, but he is still set to sign a new contract with the Chelsea, despite his lack of game time, so the new deal will mean the Belgium international does not leave on a free transfer.
And he has now announced that he will be making a loan move to Palace this summer in order to get the game time he wants, Batshuayi went on loan to Palace in the second half of 2018-19, making 13 appearances and scoring six goals.
After scoring twice for Belgium against Iceland last night, he told Belgian broadcaster RTBF: “Am I going to re-sign at Chelsea to be loaned to Crystal Palace? You’re on the right track when you say that. It’s something like that.
“The most important thing for me is to have playing time for me and to be ready when I come to the national team.”
