Super agent Kia Joorabchian, who worked on Willian’s move from Chelsea to Arsenal has revealed other Premier League managers are jealous of Chelsea’s transfer business this summer.
The Blues have spent over £200million on new signings this summer. Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz have all been added to the Chelsea squad.
Joorabchian told talkSPORT: “Chelsea have spent very well. They’ve backed Frank to the full – that’s been the key.
“I know a lot of managers who wish they had been backed in that way. I think the pressure is on Chelsea to perform.”
He added: “The market will still continue. “But having said that I think Chelsea have bought what they’ve bought, but they’ve probably paid 20 or 30 per cent less than they would have done in a buoyant market.” One Premier League manager that is jealous of Chelsea’s transfer business is Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
Reacting to Chelsea’s transfer business, Klopp said: “Clubs are in different situations and we are living in uncertainty in the world. For some clubs, it seems to be less important how uncertain the future is because they are owned by countries, owned by oligarchs and that is the truth. We are a different kind of club.
“We reached the Champions League final two years ago, won it the following year and won the Premier League by being the club we are, we cannot change that overnight and say ‘now we want to behave like Chelsea’.
“We always want to improve the squad but there are different ways – one way is to sign new players and the other way is to work together, improve the things you were good in and try to nullify the things you are not good in. That is football. No one wants to talk about training and only about signings.”
