‘There’s life without him, Tuchel should get him back on track’ – Paolo Di Canio says of Chelsea player

Chelsea paid almost £100m to sign Lukaku from Inter Milan, and the Belgian was a top player for Inter during his two years at the club, helping them win the Serie A last season.

However, there’s a big feeling out there that the Chelsea team play better without Romelu Lukaku than with the Belgium hitman.

Inter fans were angry that the club sold Lukaku to Chelsea, and Inter went on to sign 35-year-old Edin Dzeko as a replacement for the Belgian.

Interestingly, former Lazio, Juventus, and West Ham United striker Paolo Di Canio, has claimed that the Nerazzurri are even faring better in the absence of Lukaku.

Speaking to Italian broadcast network Sky Sport Italia, the former striker said:

“When everyone on the pitch can contribute in possession, you are playing total football.

“There is life after Lukaku at Inter, it had seemed as though you couldn’t play without him in Italy.”

Paolo went on: “A 35-year-old Dzeko has come in and done well, also bringing the best out of his teammates, who are proving themselves after Conte: it is as if everyone has ‘freed themselves.’”

“Inter are a very technical team,” he explained. “Lautaro, who looked like he might be lost without the Belgian, has improved because he is spearheading the combinations with his teammates who are playing a form of total football.”

Lukaku started his Chelsea career on a high, but he has since lost steam and has scored just once in his last 11 games.

Nevertheless, he’s yet to start a league game since his return from injury, and there have been calls from many, telling Thomas Tuchel to get him back into the starting team.
