There’s something I don’t like about Tuchel‘ – Gary Neville questions key Tuchel’s decision after Chelsea’s defeat to Liverpool

According to latest reports, Gary Neville has questioned Thomas Tuchel’s decision to take off Edouard Mendy, who had a good game against Liverpool, for Kepa Arrizabalaga for Chelsea’s penalty-shootout defeat to Liverpool in a thrilling Carabao Cup final.

The plan to bring on Kepa for Mendy backfired massively as the Spanish goalkeepers failed to save any penalty and ballooned his effort over the crossbar.

On Tuchel’s decision to replace Mendy for Kepa, Sky Sports co-commentator Neville said: “There’s something about Tuchel I don’t like. It’s not the time to analyse that and it could have paid off.

“They obviously know that Kepa has a great penalty-saving record, but I still won’t get it.

“A goalkeeper [Mendy] has been outstanding and made saves all the way through the game.

“He’s in the game, he’s got the atmosphere, he’s got a feeling, he’s warmed up.”
