“They are strong guys sign them”- Chelsea board told to sign these two players instead of De Jong

An Arsenal legend advises Chelsea to sign Rodri or Casemiro rather than Frenkie de Jong

William Gallas, a former player for Chelsea and Arsenal, told Genting Casino (via Metro) that the Blues should rethink their transfer strategy and look at a different profile to address their midfield woes.

Gallas was a defender who spent 13 years competing in England’s top division, working for Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur throughout that time. In that time, he won two Premier League championships.

With reports circulating all summer, Frenkie de Jong’s transfer odyssey has been among the most drawn-out and taxing processes one could imagine.

The Dutch manager has been eager to make De Jong the flagship acquisition of his tenure and key to the style of play he wants his squad to play since since Erik Ten Hag was hired by Manchester United.

However, Chelsea has entered the picture with the intention of hijacking the deal since Barcelona is eager to sell so that they can register their new signings and United is unable to come to terms with the player personally.

Chelsea is hoping to lure De Jong away from United, who are in a transitional stage, by promising Champions League football and a more ambitious project.

Now, William Gallas has urged the Chelsea board to change their strategy and search at players in the mold of Rodri (Manchester City) or Casemiro (Real Madrid) as it will be better suited with the players presently at Stamford Bridge. There are reports that De Jong’s future will be decided.

“They should go for someone like Casemiro or Rodri instead. They are strong guys who stay in front of their defenders. They have good impacts physically as well. That is why I would not sign De Jong, because they already have players who are a little bit similar.”
