Thiago Silva drops huge transfer hint on £43m Chelsea deal as a done deal
As Romelu Lukaku loan whispers intensify, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has dropped a massive £43million Gabriel Jesus transfer hint with what he has done on social media.
In addition to overseeing a defensive makeover this summer, new owner Todd Boehly has a precarious and major scenario to resolve with club record signing Lukaku, who is apparently trying everything he can to secure an early return to Inter Milan, including taking a wage cut. According to The Guardian and others, Boehly and Clearlake will not stand in the way of the 29-year-old, who is now out injured following a setback in Belgium’s Nations League defeat to the Netherlands and was thus left out of the squad for the Wednesday night match against Poland.
However, the source goes on to state that the trade must be financially viable before the Blues approve the entire transfer. Lautaro Martinez, Alessandro Bastoni, and Milan Skriniar have all been mentioned as potential makeweights in a player exchange deal. Due to complications with the first two members of the trio, both of whom, including Skriniar to some extent, want to stay at Inter this summer, both sides may have to get creative to find a solution to this tricky scenario. Chelsea’s number nine might still be there for at least another season.
However, if the favorable outcome occurs, with Lukaku being allowed his dream move once more, the Blues and Boehly will need to have a contingency plan in place if they are to quickly move on from this over £100 million transfer blunder.
Despite suggestions that Armando Broja may be promoted to share the post with Kai Havertz, it appears that external options will take precedence as Chelsea look to make a statement in the wake of Man City’s signing of Erling Haaland and Liverpool’s possible acquisition of Benfica star Darwin Nunez.
The current World Champions reportedly plan to make this statement of intent by launching a £43m assault to rival Arsenal for City star Gabriel Jesus, who is expected to be shown the exit door by Pep Guardiola this summer to compensate for the arrivals of Haaland and youngster Julian Alvarez respectively.
This is according to Goal whose report goes on to clarify that Jesus would come in to directly replace the want away Belgian star and Serie A MVP winner of 2020/21 who made his intentions well known as early as January 2022 with his explosive Sky Italia interview which came on the eve of an important Premier League clash against Liverpool.
Despite the Blues’ willingness to join the race to sign the 25-year-old Brazilian star, it is still understood that Edu’s relationship with Jesus’ camp means that they are still very much the favourites in this race – this was a statement transfer guru Fabrizio Romano echoed on his latest transfer video.
Nevertheless, Chelsea have shown in the past that they can upset their London rivals and hijack deals, like when they signed Willian under the noses of Tottenham.
And if Silva’s activity is anything to go by, then maybe Boehly and his board are planning the same thing on the red side of North London this time around. This is because the veteran defender has liked a post on Instagram by a Chelsea News account reporting on the Jesus to Chelsea rumours. For further context, the former Paris Saint-Germain mainstay has liked tweets linking Ousmane Dembele to Chelsea. Is agent Thiago at it again and does he know something we don’t?
We will find out in due course but he could potentially help the Blues gain an edge over Arsenal in this race if he is able to talk to the striker in question over the next few days and weeks on international duty.
