£155,000k a-week Chelsea star willing to take pay cut to join Lazio

According to media outlet Il Messaggero through The Hard Tackle, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is willing to take a wage cut to join Serie A side Lazio this summer.

However, Kepa Arrizabalaga joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao in Spain for £72 million in the summer of 2018, making him the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.

The Spanish goalkeeper has fallen short of expectations at Stamford Bridge and is now Edouard Mendy’s backup.

Kepa’s contract with the Blues has three years left on it, but it’s unlikely that he’ll see an increase in playing time as long as Mendy is at Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper presently makes over €8 million per year at Chelsea, a salary that Lazio would struggle to match, but he is willing to accept a pay reduction in order to rejoin with former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri at Lazio.

With the FIFA World Cup approaching later this year, Kepa will need consistent game time o cement his place in Luis Enrique’s Spain squad. Villarreal, Newcastle United, and Juventus have all been connected with him recently.
