“This is getting out of hand”, “he should have been dropped two weeks ago” – Chelsea fans tells Tuchel to drop Chelsea star after another blunt performance in 2-1 win over West Ham
On Saturday, September 3, Edouard Mendy made yet another mistake against West Ham United, prompting Chelsea supporters to demand his dismissal.
In their match at home versus the Hammers, the Blues prevailed 2-1. However, in the 62nd minute of the game, Thomas Tuchel’s team made the first mistake and fell behind.
Jared Bowen floated one into the box, and Mendy couldn’t make a strong save. Declan Rice received the ball and found Michail Antonio, who finished well from close range to give his team the lead.
The Blues scored goals from Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz to complete their comeback.
Later, Mendy dropped the ball, allowing West Ham to score the equalizer. The goal, though, was contentiously disallowed for a foul on the goalkeeper.
Even though the Senegalese had a very lucky moment, Chelsea ended up winning the match. The team led by Thomas Tuchel now has 10 points after six league games.
But on social media, Mendy received abuse from the followers. On August 21, during his team’s 3-0 loss against Leeds United, the goalie committed a catastrophic error.
Many supporters noted that the winner of the UEFA Best Goalkeeper Award in 2021 makes mistakes far too frequently for their taste. Another person remarked that if backup goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga had committed even a small portion of those mistakes, the crowd would have demanded his sale.
The Chelsea supporters believe that Mendy should be benched so that he can regain his form.
