Todd Boehly ‘really wants to bring’ 117-goal star to Stamford Bridge – report
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is desperate to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge.
But according to Phillips, Thomas Tuchel isn’t convinced about acquiring the 117-goal Portugal international from their Premier League rivals, despite the American businessman’s interest in a deal.
However, Following United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League last month, Ronaldo announced his desire to leave Old Trafford, and Chelsea unexpectedly appeared as a viable possibility.
This happened after The Athletic reported that Boehly and Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes had met in Portugal, where the 37-year-shocking old’s transfer to Stamford Bridge was one of the issues discussed.
Less than two weeks later, the same source asserted that Chelsea was “considering” a move for the former Real Madrid and Juventus player, despite United’s strong refusal to sell.
However, The Athletic later claimed that the Blues had lost interest in Ronaldo, who is still unsure of where he will play football next season.
However, Phillips was informed earlier this week that Boehly is still enthused about a deal and gave the impression that Tuchel’s decision would change as a result of his dissatisfaction with Chelsea’s present options.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I was told that Boehly really wants to sign Ronaldo, but up until now, Tuchel has said that he doesn’t want him in at the moment, although I think that’s subject to change.
“Tuchel has been very adamant that he wants more attackers, he was very annoyed after the Arsenal game and expressed his desire to change his attackers.”
