Todd Boehly receive clear summer transfer message as Chelsea urged to sign 34-goals man after FA Cup final defeat
Chelsea face back to back defeat to Liverpool in the two Cup finals as the Blues slip away once again in the FA Cup final after losing on penalties to Liverpool for the second time this season.
However, following this defeat Chelsea has receive some transfer message due to lack of goals scoring and making use of their chances in the attacking area.
Now, Former Chelsea and England defender Glen Johnson has urged the Blues to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window. It comes as the club prepares for a crucial few weeks in terms of its future.
Off the field, the first issue to resolve is the takeover, which is already in its third month since Roman Abramovich chose to sell the club. Todd Boehly’s group is getting closer to closing the purchase after being chosen preferred bidder and met with Thomas Tuchel and Emma Hayes lately.
Further-more, Tuchel will have to address a number of possible issues, including a lack of depth in the backline and midfield, as well as scoring goals up front, which remains a concern. Record-breaking signing Romelu Lukaku is one of several strikers at the club who has battled to maintain consistency this season.
Johnson has pushed the Blues to sign Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski in light of the situation. According to reports, the Polish international is expected to refuse a new contract with the Bundesliga champions, paving the way for a move away.
Speaking to Lord Ping, Johnson said: “For a club like Chelsea, I think they need to sign Robert Lewandowski. He is a more realistic signing, but these top, world-class strikers are hard to find. For his age and the possibility of the deal actually happening, I’d say Chelsea should sign Lewandowski.
“Chelsea obviously tried when they broke the bank for Romelu Lukaku and obviously Haaland was the one they would have liked to have signed, but it was always going to be hard to trump Man City, Liverpool or a team like Real Madrid so he was unlikely going to end up at Chelsea.”
Whether the club would make a move for the 33-year-old remains to be seen, especially with more pressing priorities elsewhere. However, he could be the first mission for incoming owner Boehly to make a statement.
