Todd Boehly takeover set to make Chelsea CEO to step down

The consortium led by Todd Boehly was today announced as the new owners of the club, with the official confirmation expected to be made on Monday.

Meanwhile, Chelsea CEO Guy Laurence is expected to step down after the £4.25bn takeover is confirmed on Monday.

One of Todd Boehly’s first assignment at the club will be to appoint a new chief executive.

Guy Laurence is in charge of running day-to-day operations in west London, and according to the Daily Mail, Lawrence had already decided to leave the club before the ownership change began but stayed on to ensure a smooth transition period.

Lawrence joined the club back in February 2018, and under his guidance, the club’s turnover has grown 20 per cent, from £360m to £435m, and despite a two-year pandemic the club still went on to rake massive revenues.
