Tuchel confirms players are set to leave Chelsea soon

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that several players are likely to depart Chelsea following Tuesday’s game at Bournemouth.

Several fringe players featured in the pre-season friendly but are now set to move elsewhere, either on loan or permanent deals.

Blues stars involved in Euro 2020 are about to return to the squad, so boss Tuchel has decisions to make on who to keep at the club for the coming season.

The German told Chelsea TV: “I have to analyse it – and we need these games to analyse it and to judge our players and make decisions about what are the best next steps for them.

“There is now a training group of 28 or 29, which is a huge group and there are players coming back.

“So in the near future, yes we have to make some decisions – and it’s good to learn during matches because we need to judge them on a fair basis and some impressions from games.”

Armando Broja and Ike Ugo scored as Chelsea came from behind to win 2-1 against the Cherries.

Emiliano Marcondes, released by Brentford having scored at Wembley in their play-off final triumph in May, headed Bournemouth in front early in the second half.

Broja, who recently signed a new five-year contract, equalised by finishing from close range after being found by Baba Rahman’s cross.

And striker Ugbo was on hand to nod Chelsea ahead from Ross Barkley’s left-wing corner with 14 minutes remaining.

Tuchel’s side will continue their pre-season campaign with a game at Arsenal on Sunday.
