Tuchel provides ‘Shocking’ update on Ziyech’s injury ahead of new season

The Blues have suffered a setback ahead of the new Premier League season, with Hakim Ziyech having to be substituted with what appeared to be a dislocated shoulder.

Ziyech put the Blues ahead against Villarreal in the first half before he suffered a nasty-looking injury after he was caught by Juan Foyth.

After receiving lengthy treatment Ziyech was eventually helped off the pitch by a physio, with Christian Pulisic replacing him in the 43rd minute.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel confirmed that the setback is ‘serious’, and acknowledged his disappointment as the Moroccan was in fine form recently.

He told Chelsea fc official website: “If you take a player out during the first half, it is serious. It was unfortunate because he has been a very decisive player in the last games.”

Ziyech had a disappointing debut campaign for the Blues, registering just six goals and four assists from 39 appearances across all competitions.
