Tuchel reveals why he’s not happy with what Chelsea did in 1-0 win over Tottenham

Despite the 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the second-leg of Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday night, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wasn’t impressed with the performance of his team.

However, according to Tuchel, the Blues lost concentration and focus in the final 15 minutes of the first half and again in the second half.

Tuchel believes Chelsea’s performance in the first-leg at Stamford Bridge was better than our performance in the second-leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tuchel, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, said: “We’re happy with the result. In the first half we were the better team and we deserved to be up.

“But we lost concentration and lost focus in the last 15 minutes of the first half and again in the second half. We were almost punished for lack of focus.

“We played at 90% and that’s not our style – we shouldn’t do this. We had to work hard and it was not our best performance – we were better in the first leg.”

It’s job done for the Blues after beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 on aggregate across both legs. The Blues have a Carabao Cup final at Wembley at the end of February against either Liverpool or Arsenal to look forward to.
