According to reports, Possible Chelsea signing Declan Rice has been compared to Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard – amid all the speculation surrounding his future

Rice is a man that is seemingly in the headlines alot over the past few seasons after developing into one of the best holding midfielders in the game, and that has led to links with the club

However – Rice will not come cheap if Chelsea do want to sign him and new owner Todd Boehly may have to shell out £150million for his signature – according to the latest reports in the media.

But after the Englishman started for England on Saturday afternoon in their Nations League clash with Hungary – Liverpool icon Michael Owen compared his abilities to those of Steven Gerrard. -who is easily regarded as one of the best ever in the Premier League

“I think that sitting midfield role is a very disciplined one, I played with one of the best in Steven Gerrard but he was too good to sit there and be disciplined,” Owen said during Channel 4’s coverage of the clash.

“He does show signs of a Steven Gerrard, big powerful, long, very good passer, he breaks the game up so well now he just adds those long sloping runs.”
