When I intended to leave Chelsea – Thiago Silva reveals ahead of new Chelsea owner

Since joining Chelsea from French club Paris Saint-Germain, the Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva has impressed and is an important player for Thomas Tuchel’s side despite being 37.

However, Thiago Silva will be a few months short of his 39th birthday when his current Chelsea contract expires next summer.

It seems we might continue enjoying the privilege of watching Thiago Silva in a Chelsea shirt and the 37 year old revealed he wants to continue playing until he’s 40 or 41.

AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini played at the top level into his 40s and Thiago Silva is hoping to emulate that.

Thiago Silva said: “I hope I can do the same thing that Maldini did at Milan, playing until he was 40 or 41 years old,”  last year.

“That’s my plan for the immediate future and I have prepared myself for that.”

Thiago Silva has already made 35 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions this season and is hoping to represent Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar at the end of 2022.
