World class arrival ‘is a good signing for Chelsea’ ‘ he will bring alot to the club – fans told
Chelsea legend Roberto Di Matteo has spoken out and expressed his happiness that Chelsea were able to sign Kalidou Koulibaly to a contract.
However, There was a lot of conjecture about who the club could sign this summer because Thomas Tuchel needs to replace Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
That sparked reports that Koulibaly was the person the club was seeking, and after several months of reports, they were able to bring the powerhouse to the Premier League in a £40 million deal.
The only reason Chelsea was able to complete a move of Koulibaly is because the big man’s contract expires at the end of next season and the Italians needed to sell. Koulibaly has established himself as one of the top center defenders in the league over the past few seasons.
The Senegalese defender made his first appearance for Chelsea in the preseason loss to Arsenal, and Di Matteo thinks he will help the Blues this season. His performance was the only bright spot of a frustrating evening.
Di Matteo told the club website: ‘Being Italian, I watch Italian football quite a lot and with regards to Koulibaly, he’s a top-class player.
‘He will bring physicality, which you need in the Premier League, but also he has a lot of technical ability and he has the tactical awareness that you see from the Italian sides in Serie A.
‘So I think he be a good signing for Chelsea. I feel like we are getting a top player who is in the prime of his career, so I can only see positive things.’
Even though Chelsea have not had the best of pre-seasons – it means nothing and by the start of the new season – Chelsea will be ready
