‘Worst thing that can happen’ after Chelsea1-0 defeat to Everton – Tuchel reveals

Following Cesar Azpilicueta’s error that led to Everton’s winning goal on Sunday, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel couldn’t hide his displeasure with the defender.

However, Within the first minute of the second half, the Blues captain was on the ball, seemingly under no pressure. However, he gave the ball away strangely to Richarlison, who shot past Edouard Mendy to give the Toffees a 1-0 Premier League victory.

Chelsea couldn’t score an equalizer despite having 79 percent possession and forcing Jordan Pickford to make some fantastic saves. In the Premier League table, they are now only three points ahead of fourth-placed London rivals Arsenal.

Tuchel was enraged by his team’s loss, claiming in his post-game news conference that his team needs to eliminate basic errors in major games.

Azpilicueta’s error was brought up, and the German coach was asked whether there was anything he could do to avoid it from happening again. In response to Football London, he stated:

“No, I’m not sure what I can do. When the ball is no longer in play, concede a goal. In this environment and scenario, it is the worst thing that can happen to you. Too frequently, we struggle to play without making major errors. That’s why we’re having trouble getting results.”

Chelsea had 17 efforts on goal against Pickford in the match, but none of them were successful. Their lackluster effort came after a dismal performance against Manchester United on Thursday night (28 April). At Old Trafford, the Blues were unable to capitalize on several wonderful opportunities, and the match ended 1-1.

Forwards In the Goodison Park setback, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner were largely unnoticed. Tuchel, on the other hand, sat record-signing Romelu Lukaku on the bench for the whole game.

The 48-year-old manager, on the other hand, is more concerned about his team’s defensive shortcomings, as he revealed in his news conference:

“If there is something I can do, I will attempt it, but I would have done it sooner if I had known about it. The trick, in my opinion, is to start with a clean slate. We finally scored late and conceded right away against Manchester United, which was a different game with more open, fluid, and open spaces.”

He continued: “This reminds me of the game versus West Ham. We struggled to find space in the first half against a deep-lying opponent, but we kept a clean sheet and made no major errors against West Ham. As a result, we have a chance to score late. You struggle when you go behind against an opponent like this, in this atmosphere, and try to instill emotion and belief in a crowd like this and the opponent’s team.”
