25-goals man slams Antonio Conte for fooling him at Chelsea as €112 million star opens up on Chelsea interest

25-goals man slams Antonio Conte for fooling him at Chelsea as €112 million star opens up on Chelsea interest

In the summer of 2016, Chelsea acquired Michy Batshuayi from Marseille for £33 million.

With high expectations, Batshuayi joined Stamford Bridge and finished with 25 goals in 77 games in all competitions.

He played for Dortmund, Valencia, Crystal Palace, and Besiktas over the most of his Chelsea career while out on loan.

The highlight of Batshuayi’s tenure at Chelsea was his substitution and the goal he scored to secure the Premier League championship for Chelsea in the 2016–17 campaign.

Batshuayi has now admitted that he was duped by Antonio Conte, the former Chelsea manager, who promised to play him as Diego Costa’s support striker but never did.

“Conte was constantly contradicting himself,” Batshuayi told Sport.

“To start with my arrival. He called me and explained his project. He wanted me to play in a two-man frontline alongside Diego Costa.

“Did I believe that? Of course, because Conte has played with two attackers all his career. Except at Chelsea with me.

“I do not understand. The truth is that I have been fooled far too often.”

De Jong finally opens up on Chelsea interest

Chelsea were interested in signing De Jong during the summer transfer window but the Holland international opted to remain at Barcelona.

Speaking to NOS on international duty with Holland, De Jong revealed when and why he decided to stay at Barcelona, saying: “I had already decided in May that I wanted to stay.

“So I was very calm myself. I now feel welcome at the club. Nothing has ever changed with my teammates.”

He added on his lack of regular minutes in a press conference: “I didn’t start against Bayern in the Champions League. You want to play important games.

“When I play less, I do notice it. Not really in terms of the technical aspect because you still know how to play football, but more so in the physical aspect.”

De Jong has started just four of eight games for Barca in all competitions this season and is evidently already frustrated with his lack of game time.
