£35 million rated defender all set to sign up with Chelsea as hierarchy to open contract talks

According to reports that have now emerged, Chelsea are set to open contract talks with defender Kurt Zouma in the New Year.

Zouma has always been a player that has had alot of potential to become one of the very best defenders in the World, but was never really given the opportunities to prove himself at the Bridge.

But The 26-year-old has helped Chelsea get off to a good start, forming a solid partnership with Thiago Silva as well as scoring four goals in 13 Premier League appearances, and he is now officially a proven player at the Bridge.

Zouma also played a key role in Chelsea’s flawless Champions League group stage clean sweep which saw them qualify for the knockout stages unbeaten, and according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues want to reward Zouma for his fine form this season.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Romano said: “There are no negotiations right now. The Chelsea board are thinking of offering a new contract to Zouma.

“They will start to talk with Zouma, they expect to talk with Zouma to extend his contract.

“He has two more season left on his contract at Chelsea, but they want to extend the contract. Zouma is a priority.”

Zouma is a player that has impressed many people this season and fully deserves a new contract if the reports are true, he will surely become one of the best defenders in the Premier League if he carries on with the development he has been with Frank Lampard.

So this will be great news for many associated at the club who firmly believe that he deserves that new contract.
