After 17 years, another Chelsea key man left the club

The severe restructuring at Chelsea under the new leadership of Todd Boehly has continued.

Thierry Laurent, a longtime head physiotherapist, has apparently been fired by the new owners.

Since 2005, Laurent has worked with Chelsea’s senior players, and in 2014, he was given the opportunity to become the team’s chief physio.

In his 17 years at the club, Laurent has collaborated closely with a variety of managers and contributed to the team’s success.

However, The Daily Mail report that Laurent was told of his sack during the international break via a ‘short zoom call’ on Tuesday.

The news came out of the blue, as medical director Dr Paco Biosca also left Stamford Bridge after 11 years.

According to The Athletic, Laurent was ‘shocked’ by the decision and was informed during the zoom call that the new owners want to bring their own person in.

The new Chelsea’s owners intend to reshape the medical department at the club.
