BREAKING: Chelsea officially release statement on Ben Chilwell’s injury situation
As we all knew Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has been out injured since the 4-0 win over Juventus back in November, and there were hopes that he’d return before the end of the season.
However, Ben Chilwell was in superb run of form until he suffered a major setback against Juventus when he had to be subbed off.
Chelsea had hoped that the 25-year-old would not need to have surgery, but we brought reports earlier today that Ben Chilwell will miss the rest of the season and will undergo knee surgery in a bid to return to training in time ahead of the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
Chelsea Football Club has now released an official statement about Ben Chilwell.
The club released a statement thus: “After a knee injury in the match against Juventus the Chelsea medical department, in collaboration with their knee specialist, took the decision to attempt a conservative rehab approach.
“Unfortunately Ben was unable to progress and so collectively the decision has been taken to proceed this week with a surgical repair.”
