The Blues, who were crowned UEFA Champions League winners last season, will be bidding to win our first-ever Club World Cup in our second appearance in the competition.
However, in our first appearance in the FIFA Club World Cup, Rafa Benitez’s Chelsea lost 1-0 to Corinthians in the finals ten years ago.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are expected to smile to the bank if we emerge winners of this year’s FIFA Club World Cup.
According to Football London, Chelsea could be handed $5million (£3.68m) if the Blues are able to win this season’s FIFA Club World Cup trophy.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed he is eager to win the competition with Chelsea.
Tuchel said earlier this month: “I have to say once you are in it, you are pretty excited. Once you are not in it, it is a competition that has not the highest focus and highest value. It seems like this in Europe, or only for me.
“It is a big opportunity to win an extraordinary trophy which is far from daily business and that is why we will do anything to take the chance to make it happen.”
