Former Chelsea midfielder reveals the ‘one problem’ Ziyech and Werner may face after joining Chelsea

Former Chelsea midfielder Tiago has spoken out about his initial issues at Stamford Bridge, with the same problems potentially set to impact new arrivals Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner this summer.

Tiago joined Chelsea for €15million (£13.7m) in 2004 and was part of the Chelsea team that won the Premier League title in 2005.

Speaking to Tribuna Expresso, Tiago said: “It was complicated. More for my wife, because she was already pregnant with our first child.

“She was 22 years old and it is a complicated move to London. Not so much for me, because we – the players – go to training, have lunch at the centre if we want, and then come home.

“But in England at three in the afternoon, in winter, it is already night. A person comes home, looks outside, it’s night, it’s raining and where are we going?

“For our women it is complicated. They feel alone. There is not much to do because the city is huge and we don’t know anything.

“We were very young when we left the country. The luck is that there were more Portuguese: Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreire and André Villas-Boas.”
